Modules

The panel is made of modules: game servers, plans, backups, databases, webhooks and so on. On the Modules page (in the menu — Integrations → Modules) you can turn them on and off on the fly, with no restart or reinstall. It's also where you find the settings of modules that have no menu item of their own: S3 storages, FastDL, the file manager.

Usually there's nothing to turn off here — every module is on by default. Turn off what you don't use so customers and staff don't see clutter: for example, databases if you don't sell them.

Module card

Modules are grouped: Hosting, Storage and data, Integrations, System. A card shows:

  • the name, the system name (gameserver, backup…) and a short description;
  • the switch and the state — Enabled or Disabled;
  • Open section — the module's page, if it has one;
  • Configure — the module's settings, if it has any. A disabled module shows Enable to configure instead.

The Backups and S3 storages card shows how many storages are connected and which one is the default. If there are none, the card warns that backups and add-on files have nowhere to go.

If at least one module is disabled, the top of the page says how many.

What turning a module off does

The panel asks for confirmation and, for important modules, explains what will stop working. Once a module is off:

  • its API returns 404 right away and its admin sections don't open;
  • its background processes stop within a few seconds;
  • no data is deleted. You can turn the module back on at any time and everything carries on where it left off.

What that means for particular modules:

| Module | When turned off | |---|---| | Game servers | Servers on the nodes keep running, but the panel stops managing them: starting, stopping and start retries stop. | | Maps and mods | The Maps and mods, Content engines and Installers sections disappear from the menu, as does the tab on the server page. | | Backups and S3 storages | The Backups tab disappears from servers and no new backups are made, scheduled ones included; uploading add-on files to S3 stops. S3 storages can still be configured — from the Modules page or by direct link. | | FastDL | Nodes stop serving files; players download maps slowly, through the game server itself. | | Schedules | Schedules don't fire. Runs missed by more than 5 minutes aren't caught up after it's turned back on. | | Webhooks | The Webhooks section disappears from the menu and sending stops. Events from that period are queued and go out once it's back on. | | Notifications | E-mails are neither queued nor sent — password reset e-mails included. | | Metrics | Load and player history isn't recorded; charts for that period stay empty. | | Panel settings | The Settings section is unavailable; settings already saved stay in effect. |

Only an administrator can turn modules off. Staff with the S3 storages or panel settings permission see only the cards with settings available to them on this page, without switches.

Modules and the license

Some modules aren't in every license plan: Maps and mods, Backups and S3 storages and Webhooks. If your license doesn't include the feature, the module isn't shown on the page and doesn't work. After a renewal or plan change it appears by itself. More in Licensing.
